The joint research project »Lab 2020« is an innovation project in the environment of pharmaceutical and biotechnological laboratory work. In this project, practical sustainable and innovative solutions are developed for laboratory work and design.
The laboratory work environment is considered in the project, especially under procedural, architectural and equipment and information technology aspects. Exchange of experience between manufacturers, designers and users and the associated consolidation of extensive expertise, enables new ideas to be implemented, practically, with sustained value and future-oriented.
With the foundation of EGNATON (Registered European Association for Sustainable Laboratory Technology) professionals in the laboratory sector are partnering in single platform. As a founding member DUEPERTHAL participates in the international exchange of ideas and supports EGNATON, to generate a pan-European network of laboratory experts to deal with the subject of sustainable laboratory technologies.
The exchange of experience within the labline® , EGNATON and Lab 2020 projects enables DÜPERTHAL to implement the latest research findings in practical solutions, even more efficiently than before. For example, valuable points have already been realised for users in safety cabinets such as CLASSIC line (wing doors) and PREMIUM line (folding doors):
The EN 14470-1 standard only requires extraction of solvent vapours immediately above the bottom tray. However, to enable dangerous vapours to be reliably picked up in the whole of the inside of the cabinet, DÜPERTHAL safety cabinets have ventilation and extraction openings at every level of the cabinet. Furthermore, the ventilation cut-off valves which automatically close in the event of a fire are equipped with a visual control option based on the "traffic lights principle", are easily accessed and are therefore simple for the owner/operator and users to check at any time.
Many ergonomic findings have also been incorporated for easy use. The modern range of safety cabinets already has a set back base to prevent users from knocking their feet against the cabinet. The positioning of the lock at handle level with integrated lock cylinder in the door and the ability to choose between classic and one hand door technique "one", also ensure maximum convenience. The opened doors are of course automatically closed by a thermal element in the event of a fire.
Additional features such as the conducting connection of all metal components from the inside to the outside are also standard along with the two equipotential bonding saddles on the cabinet roof for connection to the earthing according to BGR 132 (prevention of ignition hazards).
Mobility is high on the list of priorities for modern laboratories. Therefore, all DÜPERTHAL tall cabinets are equipped with an accessible base. The base can be easily dismantled and the safety cabinet moved to a new installation site using a pallet truck. The adjusting bases of the safety cabinet have an extra large supporting surface and enable easy alignment and level adjustment.
DÜPERTHAL's research department has also developed a large number of new solutions for the UTS line under-bench safety cabinets within the scope of the labline® , EGNATON and Lab 2020 projects:
Until now, base options available for customary under-bench cabinets on the market were low and were flush with the front of the cabinet. This solution, not always the most comfortable, has been considered to be the state of the art standard for years.
The new ToeKick base is the first option to provide a real solution! The base is 85 mm high and is set back by 50 mm, which provides sufficient space to prevent users from knocking their feet against it. Further, it is now possible for users to work closer to the new UTS line safety cabinets and with greater balance. Long established features such as base extraction or roller set, for easy installation of the safety cabinet are of course still available here.
Apart from the ToeKick base, with the new easy door opening with automatic pull-out trays, the development engineers at DÜPERTHAL have set a further example with respect to ergonomics. The small innovation marvels have a new, unique user friendly feature: When the wing door is opened, the integrated pull-out tray automatically moves towards the user. |
